Everybody, if you want to help out with the Coactive Elements community website, we will have an official meeting on MSN Messenger on Monday, August 11th, at 3 PM Central Time, which is 1 PM Pacific Time and 4 PM Eastern Time. If I didn’t mention the time in your region, then just convert the times I listed to your time. If you can’t make it at any of those times on Monday, then you can still join us at anytime that day and we’ll get you caught up on everything. They just became well known here in the states. Their songs have been playing in commercials for products and tv shows. I think they’re from France, but I may be wrong about that.

Hello all! Had a blast in Laguna Beach! Art galleries galore; A huuuge art walk! Eclectic people walking around eating and drinking…..80 degrees out…ahhhh beautifil.
Then of course Disney land and the rides people and god the artwork there…. I get so inspired every time I go. Had a great weekend.

Yes, things around the blog are a little lackluster, but the faithful are still here. Waiting and watching…and I do hope that some are watching from the wings and just looking forward for the show to air in September. The idea that you all had was and is an amazing thing. I think we might’ve all guessed that after the deadline, things would slow down. It was a given, but as I said, the faithful here know the show is filming and plans are in the works and we are here to make this work for you as well as ourselves. We’re still excited about this, and as in “Horton Hears a Who” …..

Not sure what the Ting Tings really have to do with anything, unless one of the challenges (maybe more) have to do with creating media for bands, such as album packaging, music videos, etc. I’ve kind of been expecting that, because it IS music television afterall.
A cool idea would be to focus on bands/artists that take their visual artwork into their own hands as well.
Suggestions would be Australia’s “The Grates,” who actually have a second album that just was released there (I feel like MTV Australia already loves them, they’re certainly not a secret). Two of the three members studied Graphic Design, and they have a very specific artistic vision. Whether they’re doing album artwork, illustrating their setlists (they do type treatments for each of their song titles!), or working with filmmakers to make creative videos, they certainly have a flair for the visual arts as well as their music.
Another would be Baltimore-locals “Double Dagger,” who in addition to being one of a few standout bands of the Baltimore scene (recently raved about by basically everyone from Rolling Stone to NYLON, thanks to DD themselves, as well as Dan Deacon, Beach House, and more), two of their three members also operate Post Typography, a really neat design company, and they produce a lot of top-notch creative work. They’ve also curated a gallery show or two (a study on the alphabet is currently touring, I believe), and given lectures at various universities across the country.

I am doing great. I am getting ready to list some items on Ebay. My brother gives me all the clothes he can’t fit, never wore, or doesn’t want anymore and I list them on Ebay and I keep all the profits. lol I know that sounds bad, but he tells me to keep the profits. So I am like hey who am I to argue with him about that. lol After I finish doing that, I am going to do some Photoshopping. My niece was in a high school dance recital some months ago and I took a lot of photos of their dances and I want to turn one of them into a graphic artwork. So those are my plans for the next two or more hours. lol

I am keeping the faith Tony. I just sent you an email. You have pumped me up again. We’re doing this and I don’t care who isn’t into it anymore or not. I believe in the community website with all of my heart and soul. It hurt me to tell you that I was going to go back to working on my own stuff full-time and wait for everybody to come back around when the show started. If we’re all going to get this done, we’re going to have to stay motivated. I don’t know what else to say. I am so all over the place. I hope to see some people from our group ready to talk about the website tomorrow. I am ready to agree on the official spelling of our website name and on a logo. Lets make that a first step. The second step will be rough drafts of the website. Everyone can do one in Photoshop or whatever program they want to. Then we can see what elements we like or don’t like and then we can add them together. After we do that, we can focus on the mechanics of everything. It’s time for us to make some hardcore decisions. I am ready for it. Are you all ready? Let me know, let all of us know.

No worries Dee. Its been a bit frustrating with so many options and viewpoints but it can be done. We just need to start somewhere…..anywhere. Several ideas have been put forth that are completely acceptable for getting this off the ground. Bells and whistles can be added later. Times wasting.

SuChin ~ I know that myself, Dee and Rodrigo have been letting you know that we’re still here and waiting for the show and whatever we can do on our end to help promote it when it airs….but its been reeeal quiet the last 2 weeks. If you look around, all thats left are curtains, throw pillows and a few empty beer bottles from the party that was. I really hope MTV hasnt changed any of their plans for the online portion of ER. I know its the calm before the storm as I’m certain that the show will be a hit, but after the excitement, all this quiet on the blog is a little disheartening. I really thought there’d be a little more interaction than this. I’m really hoping alot of the regulars will come back when ER airs so we can talk about it and generate the fervor again.
Anyway…. I know my constant showing up sounds whoreish for lack of a better word, lol, but I really want to see this take off and I’m sticking behind what we all started. Speaking for myself the CoActive Elements design crew that we’ve started, we’re all still on board for this….come what may. Thank you.
