Thanks Tati! The roulette table idea was Greg’s and I was just replying back to him and everybody. My idea was to send everybody an email. One thing I can definitely do is send emails. lol I think we’re getting more done that way than we did during the world wars in here. lol

So I know this late, but in response to all of the anger (you know who you are). Whether we were pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised by the winners, we shouldn’t go off burning bridges just yet. It’s very unprofessional, and you could really kill the good promises of future projects and opportunities.
We’re artists, we’re opinionated, but lets not be rash. Even if it’s a reality TV show, it’s television none the less, so I’m certain there are other standards as to who the higher ups want to show on television. It’s unfortunate, but you should have kept that in mind when applying for the show. The entertainment industry is complex, part of being an animator is understanding that, so that’s why I’m not getting bent out of shape.
I’ve got more hits on my site then ever before, and I’m part of a great network, we should all be really excited for this exposure, and certainly make the best of it!
That’s my late two cent on the situation.
So hang in there guys, kudos to everyone keeping up the good attitude.

Goodness gracious. I had been so behind to join the postings that by the time I got around to it I was in the last thread talking to the only people with good spirits who stuck around. Preaching to the Choir I suppose….
I had good reason to be away from the boards. Aside from not getting involved in the overzealous fake “artists” looking for their fifteen minutes, [By the by, may I point out that it was NY artist Andy Warhol himself who came up with that little saying? I'm sure once again, preaching to the choir.] I had been working on supporting my short film and getting it sent off to different festivals for possible acceptance. So far good news, it’s been accepted as part of The Atlanta Underground Film Festival branch called Animation Attack! Im not bragging…just so happy I could explode ^_^
Now since I’m one of those ‘lurkers’ who missed a few beats… has there been a suggestion of and exquisite corpse type of project from those who didn’t fly off the handle?

Great advice Tony! I was lucky enough to get some studio experience while at school and you could not believe how tiny the entertainment industry is! Say something bad today, and they’ll be turning down your job application tomorrow. I had the unpleasant opportunity to see it happen to others during my time.
i ewas thinking of the 15 minutes of fame… it would be cool if the website could select a persons link to a portafolio each day a different one! so people who entered the site would be curious and look at a different persons each day! it could be done with a lil programming .. any programmers out there?

Natalia, I think it would be cool if we could meet up too. Only Tony has replied saying Yahoo or MSN. I am okay with Yahoo and MSN too. I have noticed that a lot of people on the email list mentioned having MSN messenger. Your idea of showcasing a link to a person’s portfolio everyday sounds great! Slowly, but surely we’re all getting this together.
One person has told me that they’re free during the week except for this weekend. Another person said that they’re available every night, but not during the day. Maybe we should meet up on one of the weekdays. Like you and I said, we should just have an all day meeting and have someone take notes and keep everybody informed of what’s going on and if the person needs to add anything, then the writer of the notes can write it down and relay it to everybody.
Ace, we’re all humans. We say crazy stuff when we’re happy and when our feelings have been hurt. I think you were coming from a place of hurt. All of us have the gift of forgiveness and understanding within us. Hopefully, they have used that gift and have thrown everything you said out the nearest window. If I was you, I would still be hopeful about getting one of those laptops. I think you’re a good person. You haven’t lied to anybody, you haven’t done any bodily harm to anybody, you haven’t done anything illegal, you’re still here, and we’re still here talking to you. I think everything is going to be okay.

I would like to know about that too. If they are planning something like that, then maybe they need to hear what we would like that forum or whatever to be like, what will make us keep coming back to it.

I love that we have started something off of the blogs, but this is where it began and I fear that everyone will flit away if something isnt at least said and or posted about the online plans/portion of whats been created here. Myself, I have faith and will keep coming back and I know that you and Tati, Greg, Chillout, Rodrigo, Alyissnesss, Ric, Palax, Natalia, etc….pardon me if I missed your name, more than likely will also, but…..as more time passes without much said about “Those left behind” lol, It may dissipate pretty quickly. I’ve seen it happen.
On the other hand though, when the show starts, it’ll probably draw others back here to chat about it, plus if something is launched, i.e. the galleries of the entrants / bloggers, and a forum of some sort hopefully, it’ll generate alot of interest and interaction. I do know that if mtv is serious about the show and the rest of this creative community, that’s whats gojng to have to happen. It’ll need a foundation. A base to grow from. If you dont plant the tree, yeah, it’ll stand there for awhile, but after a time it’ll die and fall over and no one will want to come back to see it. Make sense?
Again, as I’ve stated before, I know you all at MTV are hard at work with the winners and I know its busy, exciting etc…..so much to do…that we all here in the blog are low on the list, but the garden here needs a little tending. Maybe a snippet of what is in store for the future online portion. The enthusiasm of the show will be there and sort itself out, but the foundation of it could use some support that way. You can see by the blog postings that have dropped.
Me? I’ll be here in some form rain or shine because I strongly believe in whats been started here.

it would be nice if they could supply the hosting for our site. ahhh I want to buy a server and hook a vpn to it but money is so precious and I have a hard time letting that much go…
MTV does have expertise around what we want to do. If somebody from mtv reads this blog can you try to talk to your supervisor to see if your multimedia department could be a mentor while we build this community. Since all of our origins have been rooted by your company I think we should keep it inline with the companies values. In addition we can create value for MTV by sending our users from our data base to yours. I also have a few theorys of how to have an advertisement that creates a conversation in a social network to virally spread the variable of the add to people.
You just slapped me back into reality Greg. lol I forgot that the community site is one of our first collaborative projects. I agree that our site should be for the people and created by the people.
I’ll be happy with the forum or whatever MTV gives us, but we’re going to want to collaborate and etc. and I think our community site will be a nice addition.

I can’t remember the artists name right now, but whoever did that amazing Adidas advertisement (award-winning advertisement, I should add), is absolutely a candidate, etc.

Thanks for the update SuChin, especially after the post selection insanity.
So I know this late, but in response to all of the anger (you know who you are). Whether we were pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised by the winners, we shouldn’t go off burning bridges just yet. It’s very unprofessional, and you could really kill the good promises of future projects and opportunities.
We’re artists, we’re opinionated, but lets not be rash. Even if it’s a reality TV show, it’s television none the less, so I’m certain there are other standards as to who the higher ups want to show on television. It’s unfortunate, but you should have kept that in mind when applying for the show. The entertainment industry is complex, part of being an animator is understanding that, so that’s why I’m not getting bent out of shape.
I’ve got more hits on my site then ever before, and I’m part of a great network, we should all be really excited for this exposure, and certainly make the best of it!
That’s my late two cent on the situation.
So hang in there guys, kudos to everyone keeping up the good attitude.

Again, also very glad that the professionalism seems to have shown itself true in the blog. Somehow I knew there’d be a storm afterwards, but didnt know how dark it would be….but we weathered it.
I’ll agree with Dawn. Even though though it seems over, its really not. Its TV and believe it or not we’re all still involved in this. Represent yourself well and you represent us all well. Burn a bridge and you’ll feel it late down the line. Seriously.

Goodness gracious. I had been so behind to join the postings that by the time I got around to it I was in the last thread talking to the only people with good spirits who stuck around. Preaching to the Choir I suppose….
I had good reason to be away from the boards. Aside from not getting involved in the overzealous fake “artists” looking for their fifteen minutes, [By the by, may I point out that it was NY artist Andy Warhol himself who came up with that little saying? I'm sure once again, preaching to the choir.] I had been working on supporting my short film and getting it sent off to different festivals for possible acceptance. So far good news, it’s been accepted as part of The Atlanta Underground Film Festival branch called Animation Attack! Im not bragging…just so happy I could explode ^_^
Now since I’m one of those ‘lurkers’ who missed a few beats… has there been a suggestion of and exquisite corpse type of project from those who didn’t fly off the handle?

Great advice Tony! I was lucky enough to get some studio experience while at school and you could not believe how tiny the entertainment industry is! Say something bad today, and they’ll be turning down your job application tomorrow. I had the unpleasant opportunity to see it happen to others during my time.

i ewas thinking of the 15 minutes of fame… it would be cool if the website could select a persons link to a portafolio each day a different one! so people who entered the site would be curious and look at a different persons each day! it could be done with a lil programming .. any programmers out there?
(Thats just a side-idea i know theres more important things to decide first!) but the designers logo or whatever could be added to the rouletter with a button (link) maybe there it could change each day

I have noticed that a lot of people on the email list mentioned having MSN messenger. Your idea of showcasing a link to a person’s portfolio everyday sounds great! Slowly, but surely we’re all getting this together.

One person has told me that they’re free during the week except for this weekend. Another person said that they’re available every night, but not during the day. Maybe we should meet up on one of the weekdays. Like you and I said, we should just have an all day meeting and have someone take notes and keep everybody informed of what’s going on and if the person needs to add anything, then the writer of the notes can write it down and relay it to everybody.

Ace, we’re all humans. We say crazy stuff when we’re happy and when our feelings have been hurt. I think you were coming from a place of hurt. All of us have the gift of forgiveness and understanding within us. Hopefully, they have used that gift and have thrown everything you said out the nearest window. If I was you, I would still be hopeful about getting one of those laptops. I think you’re a good person. You haven’t lied to anybody, you haven’t done any bodily harm to anybody, you haven’t done anything illegal, you’re still here, and we’re still here talking to you. I think everything is going to be okay.

I think where as much people together with the same intention, love, voluntarily is a good signal.
Where is two or more people together God is there, we see so much good things.
Some form we came to stop here, and the love that we have for what we believe, we create and we make is difficult to see in the big corporations.
In a world where everything have price, something like that, can be considered of another world. Of our world!
For me, the selection for Engine is finished, but i feel it´s only the beginning.
If i was MTV, i used the bloggers, this occasion where all are similar to make the difference. It´s amazing! =p

Dee ~ I know. I love that we have started something off of the blogs, but this is where it began and I fear that everyone will flit away if something isnt at least said and or posted about the online plans/portion of whats been created here. Myself, I have faith and will keep coming back and I know that you and Tati, Greg, Chillout, Rodrigo, Alyissnesss, Ric, Palax, Natalia, etc….pardon me if I missed your name, more than likely will also, but…..as more time passes without much said about “Those left behind” lol, It may dissipate pretty quickly. I’ve seen it happen.
On the other hand though, when the show starts, it’ll probably draw others back here to chat about it, plus if something is launched, i.e. the galleries of the entrants / bloggers, and a forum of some sort hopefully, it’ll generate alot of interest and interaction. I do know that if mtv is serious about the show and the rest of this creative community, that’s whats gojng to have to happen. It’ll need a foundation. A base to grow from. If you dont plant the tree, yeah, it’ll stand there for awhile, but after a time it’ll die and fall over and no one will want to come back to see it. Make sense?
Again, as I’ve stated before, I know you all at MTV are hard at work with the winners and I know its busy, exciting etc…..so much to do…that we all here in the blog are low on the list, but the garden here needs a little tending. Maybe a snippet of what is in store for the future online portion. The enthusiasm of the show will be there and sort itself out, but the foundation of it could use some support that way. You can see by the blog postings that have dropped.
Me? I’ll be here in some form rain or shine because I strongly believe in whats been started here.

Hey homies!!! It’s been a minute since I’ve check up on y’all… Well, I’m not doing a whole lot here, just working on my future animation, BUS 10… Yeah, I’m still in Preproduction, using Flash for my animatic…
Anyhow, in my time away from that project, I’m starting to create a monster in 3D that I’m basing off of a collage that I made in Photoshop… I think this sucker is gonna rock once finished…

guys I don’t want to rely on MTV creating our community site, if its going to be for the people it should be created by the people!
it would be nice if they could supply the hosting for our site. ahhh I want to buy a server and hook a vpn to it but money is so precious and I have a hard time letting that much go…
MTV does have expertise around what we want to do. If somebody from mtv reads this blog can you try to talk to your supervisor to see if your multimedia department could be a mentor while we build this community. Since all of our origins have been rooted by your company I think we should keep it inline with the companies values. In addition we can create value for MTV by sending our users from our data base to yours. I also have a few theorys of how to have an advertisement that creates a conversation in a social network to virally spread the variable of the add to people.
